The Tulare County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is seeking applications from members of the public interested in serving as the Public Member of the Local Agency Formation Commission.
LAFCO is an independent, quasi-legislative agency that reviews city annexations and the establishment of boundaries and authorized services for numerous local agencies including fire, community services and water districts.
The Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 2:00 p.m. in the Tulare County Board of Supervisors' Chambers in Visalia CA. In addition, meetings may be rescheduled due to holidays or conflicting events.
People interested in serving on the Commission must complete an application form and submit a resume detailing applicable experience and service. The four-year term would start May 4, 2026, or thereafter and last through May 6, 2030.
Applicants must be residents of Tulare County, be able to regularly attend LAFCO meetings and not be officers or employees of the County or any city or special district (not including School Districts) in the County. The public member is a public official and is required to file a standard financial disclosure statement annually with the California Fair Political Practices Commission.
All application materials must be submitted to Tulare County LAFCO at 210 N. Church St., Suite B, Visalia CA 93291, by March 11, 2026. The Commission will make the new member appointment at its meeting after the application deadline has closed.
