PUBLIC NOTICE
(in accordance with C.V.C. Section 21950.5)
THE DINUBA CITY COUNCIL IS HOLDING A PUBLIC HEARING TO ACCEPT PUBLIC COMMENTS REGARDING THE PROPOSAL TO REMOVE A CROSSWALK ACROSS EUCLID AVENUE APPROX. 700 FEET
SOUTH OF EUCLID CIRCLE
BACKGROUND
The subject crosswalk is currently one of three closely spaced crosswalks providing access to Roosevelt Elementary School. The subject crosswalk does not have proper curb ramps at either end and discharges students to an undeveloped lot on the south side of Euclid Avenue. Sidewalks do not connect the south portion of the crosswalk to nearby pedestrian facilities. The crosswalk also does not contain any active warning devices to alert drivers to the mid-block crossing. A recent professional study by a Traffic Engineering firm determined that pursuant to the latest edition of the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices there is no current need for the crosswalk and recommends removal of the crosswalk.
The City is required to give notice to the public, per Section 21950.5 of the California Vehicle Code, when a crosswalk is identified for removal to ensure the public is notified and has an opportunity to provide comment. Notice was posted at the site, as required.
Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016
6:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter
